our venue

Our Ayurvedic retreat is situated in a small and cosy terraced town house in the quiet, historic village of Tutbury, Staffordshire. The venue is exclusively yours for the duration of your stay, apart from scheduled visits by your practitioners for treatments, and the serving of simple vegetarian meals.

The house is ideal for one guest.  There is a bedroom, bathroom and treatment room upstairs. Downstairs features a kitchen, sitting room and conservatory overlooking the pretty garden, which has been transformed into a quiet, meditative oasis of calm.  On a clear night you can even indulge in some star-gazing.

“Here in the little house I find complete peace of mind, relaxation, and one to one care. Not only do I receive wonderful food for my body but also for my mind to digest and consider. I may arrive feeling a little frazzled and worn but always leave feeling wonderful, alive, fresh, renewed and ready to face the world again. Be kind to yourself, come and experience this amazing retreat with some of the loveliest people you will ever meet.”

ABOUT THE SURROUNDING AREA

Tutbury is conveniently situated on the borders of Staffordshire and Derbyshire, right in the heart of England.  The village is on the banks of the River Dove and the site has been inhabited for over 3,000 years.  There are Iron Age defensive ditches surrounding the main hill, on which the ruins of the Tutbury Castle now stands, where Mary Queen of Scots was once imprisoned.  Next to the castle is the impressive Norman church, St Mary’s, which dates from around 1160. The village itself is known for its craft and antique shops, which draw in collectors from around the country.

If you are interested in exploring further afield, before or after your stay, there are excellent road links to the Peak District National Park with villages such as Ashbourne, Bakewell, Buxton and Matlock Bath, as well as numerous walking routes to view the stunning countryside.  Derbyshire is also known for its many stately homes and parks, such as Chatsworth House, Hardwick Hall and Kedleston Hall.
