Ayurveda
Ayurveda, meaning the knowledge of life or longevity, is a timeless wisdom passed down from the sages of ancient India. The first written texts date back over 2000 years but, as an oral tradition of health-care, it probably dates back over 5000 years. These Ayurvedic texts explain the complex workings of our mind and body and reveal the subtle movement of energy and intelligence that sustain our life on earth.
Ayurveda describes seven different body-types or constitutions and recommends different diets, health regimes and lifestyles for each of them. By identifying our own specific constitution, and following the guidelines set down for them, we are able to increase our health, happiness and longevity.
Ayurveda describes techniques and practices for strengthening, purifying and detoxifying our tissues and organs through a series of procedures called Panchakarma. It also explains how we can stay balanced and stress-free through yoga and meditation, which calm and purify our mind and emotions.
At Ayurveda UK we use the principles and practices of this perennial wisdom to gently coax your mind and body back to a state of beauty and grace. We also explain Ayurvedic techniques that will help you stay balanced, healthy and happy; free from disease and disharmony.
